The Memphis Tigers were the better team when they faced off against the Cincinnati Bearcats over the weekend. They got a 29-24 win to boost their chances of making it to the Cotton Bowl. The win was nonetheless after several comebacks by the Memphis team.
The Tigers got a touchdown and a field goal in the first quarter of the game. This ensured that they made a comeback and went ahead after the visitors had first scored a touchdown. Michael scored the touchdown for the Bearcats. Riley scored the field goal from 29 yards out while Antonio Gibson scored the touchdown for the Tigers.
Desmond scored a touchdown for the Bearcats early in the first minutes of the second quarter. This was the only scoring action during that entire quarter.
Michael Warren scored a touchdown for the Bearcats in the third quarter. Brady then scored a touchdown for the Tigers. Riley Patterson’s 52-yard field goal ensured that the hosts narrowed the lead that the Bearcats had established.
Each of the teams got a field goal in the final quarter. Riley scored for the Tigers from 50 yards out while Sam Crosa scored for the Bearcats from 33 yards out.
