The first weekend of the New Year saw the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles and the Tulane Green Wave face off. They contended for the Armed Forces bowl in a thrilling match. In the end, the Green Wave had the upper hand and won the match 30-13.
The Golden Eagles were first to score getting two incredible touchdowns during the first quarter of the game. This was courtesy of Watkins efforts in the early minutes and Jack Abraham later into the quarter.
Merek Glover scored first for the Tulane Green Wave in the second quarter. He got two marvelous field goals from 31-yards out. The Tulane team enjoyed scoring that quarter while putting up strong defenses to keep their opponent’s attackers at bay.
The Tulane team continued scoring well into the third quarter while keeping their defenses solid. They got three touchdowns and a field goal during that quarter. Jaren, Jacob, and Amare each got a touchdown while Merek scored the field goal from 36 yards out.
None of the teams managed to score during the fourth quarter of the match. The Lendingtree bowl will be played on Monday between Miami (OH) and Louisiana. Stay tuned for the highlights of that game.
